About KYCA
Mission Statement
We aim to create a brave space for all people willing to advance sustainability, environmentalism, and addressing the climate crisis.
We engage with the community in advocacy, education and supporting like-minded efforts.
All our actions come from a place of love, justice, and respect for the Earth and its inhabitants.
Founding
KYCA was formed in September 2019 by a group of people that came together to plan a global climate strike event in Houghton. The group evolved from there and has expanded into other activism projects focused on climate change and the environment.
What We Do
We are currently leading a divestment petition at Michigan Tech and organizing the planting of community fruit trees. You can find out more about our current projects by clicking on the tabs.
Affiliations
We are a registered student organization (RSO) with Michigan Technological University. We are also a Sunrise Movement Hub. Community members are welcome to join as honorary members.
